Lead glass introduction
lead glass is a glass product containing a large amount of lead oxide, usually containing 18% to 40% lead oxide. Compared with ordinary glass, lead glass has a higher refractive index, density and radiation resistance, but also has a stronger resistance to chemical corrosion.
Characteristics of lead glass include:
High refractive index : makes the light propagating in the glass more deflected, suitable for applications requiring high light transmission.
high density : Increased the protective performance of glass, especially in the aspect of radiation resistance.
brittleness : Because it contains a high proportion of lead oxide, lead glass is relatively brittle and easy to break.
Chemical corrosion resistance : can maintain stability in harsh environments.
Application field
Lead glass is widely used in many fields:
optical instruments : used in the manufacture of lenses and other optical components.
Radiological protection : used for making radiological protection Windows and shielding materials.
art and decoration : used to make tableware, crystal ornaments, etc.
Medical field : Used as observation Windows and protective screens in medical facilities.
